BUSINESSES and individuals from around Bunbury have banded
together to bring a ray of sunshine to sick kids, raising nearly
$13,000 for Camp Quality.
Camp Quality coordinator for the Bunbury region Brian Hovey said
the fundraising began when subcontractors and suppliers for WA
Country Builder's house slabs decided to contribute by donating the
profits from a slab to charity.
Their efforts have raised $12,625 and this is the second year the
initiative has been run.
Mr Hovey said the project was only made possible through the
generosity of companies such as Active Plumbing, Hanson Quarries,
Warrick Welding, OneSteel, Dj Bobcats, ASW Steel, Termico,
Structerre and the Trunflo brothers.
"All of this money will combine with that raised by our major
fundraiser which is a golf day, which last year raised over $33,000
for Camp Quality," he said.
New home builders Tegan Halden and her partner Kyle Hampton paid
for the slab and said they were glad their purchase would make a
difference.
Ms Halden said they were going to put a slab down anyway and it
was good be helping camp quality.
"We have a one-year old little girl and if anything happened to
her, then I know we've helped kids around Western Australia by
putting this slab down," Ms Halden said.
