A convoy of motorbikes carried a precious cargo the length of
the Mornington Peninsula on Friday.
About 30 bikers volunteered for the job of giving a thrill to
children affected by cancer.
The gorgeous autumn day was as if ordered from on high and the
bikes amassed at McDonald's in Mornington at lunchtime, where they
met the teenagers, who had been bused from Melbourne.
With a deafening roar, the posse took off for Portsea, where the
children spent the weekend at the Portsea Camp, taking part in
various fun activities organised by Camp Quality, a charity group
that goes by the adage "laughter is the best medicine".
The organisation provides support and recreational activities for
children with cancer in the hope that, if only for a while, they
can "put their illness behind them and concentrate on being a child
again'
