A dinner held at Avoca over the weekend helped raised $3000 for
Camp Quality in Tasmania, with the money going to the 126 children
in Tasmania suffering from a cancer related illness.
Organising committee member Shirley Freeman said the event was a
huge success, with 60 people attending.
"We raised the money through two different auctions, and raffles,
and we had some really good items that had been donated," Mrs
Freeman said.
"Everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves and it is a great way
of bringing people together." Entertainment on the night was
provided by Launceston bagpipe player John Ralph, and the auction
was conducted by Nick Towns.
Mrs Freeman said the event, which was in its fifth year, would
remain a permanent fixture on the Avoca calendar.
"We really do need this event to continue because children in
Tasmania, along with their carers and families, need our support,"
she said.
"All the money raised will stay in Tasmania, and help
Tasmanians."
