A Replica of Rachael Finch's face and a plaster cast of two
Cowboys' players armwrestling brought in the big bucks at a charity
event on the weekend.
Camp Quality North Queensland held a gala dinner on Saturday night
for more than 300 guests to crown "King Laughalot", the city's most
cheerful person.
Area manager Mark McGregor said the title was instead given to a
"Queen Laughalot", Pam Anderson from Jupiters.
"This event was held because we believe laughter is the best
medicine," Mr McGregor said.
He said Ms Anderson was a deserving winner thanks to her jovial
personality.
"She is the person who is looked upon by her peers as being always
there to help people and she sees things so optimistically," he
said.
The award for "King Servalot" went to Wally O'Brien from the
Thuringowa Lions Club for his tireless work helping the
community.
The title of "King Raise-alot" was won by Tow nsville Sunrise
Rotary Club president Andrew Gisinger who raised $20,150 for the
charity during the lead-up to the event.
During the dinner an auction was also held to sell off a range of
items, with the money going towards Camp Quality's efforts to
support children with cancer and their families.
A cast of the arms of Cowboys' players Willie Tonga and Willie
Mason, made while they were arm-wrestling, fetched about $1200,
while the cast of Rachael's face went for about $1000.
Rachael said she was happy to see the money raised would go to a
good cause.
"I honestly didn't think my face was worth that much," she
laughed.
"It was so great to be back home supporting the local community."
Mr McGregor said one of the other big hits on the night was
international comedian Paul Martell, as well as Camp Quality's
robot Giggle, who visits hospitals around the country.
