There is nothing lewd about the fact that two Willies will be
auctioned off in the name of a good cause this weekend.
Cowboys Willie Mason and Willie Tonga teamed up yesterday to get a
special cast made of their arms which will be sold off at the Camp
Quality "King Laughalot" crowning at the Townsville Entertainment
Centre on Saturday night.
Townsville's cheeriest will be vying for the title at the event
which is seeking the region's most jovial, happy and optimistic and
a range of items will go under the hammer to raise money for the
children's cancer cause.
Mason and Tonga's hands will be in a vice-like arm-wrestling grip
and is one of the many items including a cast of Rachael Finch's
face which will be sold off in the name of a good cause.
There was no stress for Mason in getting the replica of his
bulging arm done, in fact there was a sense of relief after his
last experience with the casts.
"I've had my legs done for the centenary of the game," he
said.
"It was a bit weird, a lot less painful (this time).
"This is all right, this was painless, two minutes and I'm out of
here." Both Mason and Tonga were more than happy to throw their
profiles behind the cause.
"Camp Quality is a wonderful foundation, they do a lot for a lot
of sick kids," Mason said.
"Whatever we can do to help out, I'm sure a lot of players in any
club in any code would do the same thing.
"I'm happy to put my hand up for it." John McDonald (Walters IGA),
Ray Dickson (Townsville Bulletin), George Uren (Tow nsville CV
Shafts), Pam Anderson (Jupiters), Ewen Jones (Ferry), Suzy Wilson
(Channel Seven), Mike Carney (Mike Carney Toyota), Lyn Griffiths
(Remax) and Andrew Gisinger (Q safe Solutions) have all been
nominated for the king/queen title.
