Camp Quality at Burrill Lake

2 May 2011
14 new CQ families hit the beach at Burril Lake

After a welcome barbeque Friday night, things kicked off Saturday morning when the group headed down to the beach for a surfing lesson with former world champion Pam Burridge, which was the highlight of the camp for many!

While some of the children and Mum's and Dad's ripped it up in the surf, the more hard-core engineers and architects took to building an amazing (and possibly) the world's largest sand castle, complete with a huge moat.  After a lovely play on the beach, the gang ventured to Mollymook Beach for some yummy fish and chips!  After a windy morning at Narrawallee beach, fish & chips have never tasted so good!

Next on the agenda was a visit from the Nowra Wildlife Park.  Joining the Ranger were a bunch of furry friends for the group to get to know. The crocodile took quite a fancy to one of our companions which was funny for the group, not so for poor Sasha! There was also a goat, a super cute dingo, some snakes, a slightly overweight blue tongue lizard and a HUGE baby python.

They were treated to some fabulous ice-cream (the first of many visits), followed by a serious workout on the bouncy pillow.  Free time was next but the fun didn't stop.  The group hit the lake on paddle boats and canoes.  This was followed by a rather fantastic BBQ dinner put on by some of the local van owners.

Sunday morning started off with face painting and some lovely plaster art.  It was a wonderful finish to what was a great weekend.

Thanks to all the hard working volunteers and friends of Burril Lake and the area who supported another CQ Camp!
