Chef Luke Mangan nominated Camp Quality to receive the
donation from Newman's Own Foundation.
Camp Quality has received a $100,000 donation from Newman's Own
Foundation* which will be used to fund six Camp Quality family
camps in Victoria during 2012 for children living with cancer and
their families.
Award winning chef, Luke Mangan nominated Camp Quality to
receive the grant as part of the Paul Newman's Own 10 Chefs $1
Million Charity campaign which has seen 10 Australian charities
each receive $100,000 from Newman's Own Foundation.
"Paul Newman and his philosophy of giving back is a terrific
example to all of us that we can personally make a difference,"
said Mangan. "Camp Quality is a wonderful charity that brings
optimism, hope and happiness to children affected by cancer at a
time when they need it most. I feel privileged to give them my
ongoing support."
Simon Rountree, Camp Quality CEO, says: "We're incredibly
grateful for this support from Luke and Newman's Own; Camp Quality
doesn't receive any government funding so we rely entirely on
donations.
"Our innovative programs encourage positive emotions, engagement
and supportive relationships for children living with cancer and
their families, helping them to feel stronger and more optimistic
on their cancer journey.
"The Newman's Own Foundation donation will allow 80 families in
Victoria to attend our Victorian family camps. After being split in
two between home and hospital, these families will get to spend
quality time together, forge new friendships with similar families
and enjoy a range of fun activities all with the peace of mind of
medical support if they need it."
Last year Camp Quality held 184 camps and 145 'fun days'
throughout Australia. 230,000 children were reached either through
our Performance Education Program in schools, Hospital Program or
Recreation Program.
Camp Quality can currently reach 1 in 3 children living with
cancer in Australia. It is our aim to reach every child with
cancer.
