AS a huge crowd hunted for bargains at Friday's twilight market
on the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre grounds, they provided a
bright and breezy start to Team Shoalhaven's fundraising for Camp
Quality.
Stallholder fees to take part in the increasingly popular
twilight markets go directly to Camp Quality through Team
Shoalhaven, which recently contributed just over $56,000 to the
charity. The donation was made just before seven cars from Team
Shoalhaven headed off last month for the annual Escarpade
10-day drive through the bush helping to raise awareness and
further funds for Camp Quality.
Team Shoalhaven treasurer Terese Markham said she was surprised
by the group's fundraising success in the past year.
"Businesses are doing it tough and we thought we would be lucky
to make it to $40,000," she said. Ms Markham pointed out all the
money raised in the Shoalhaven was used locally. "It all goes to
help families and children with cancer in this area," she said.
Ms Markham was hoping to raise even more before next year's
EsCarpade and said the twilight markets were a vital part of the
fundraising. Because of their popularity the markets have switched
to being held monthly during the warmer months, held the third
Friday of each month.
