The group is a wholly owned subsidiary
of Lion Nathan National Foods Pty Ltd. It was created in 1991
through the amalgamation of several dairy and food related
businesses with brand names and histories dating back to the
1800s.
National Foods is the only milk and juice business servicing the
entire Australian market. It is the market leader in fresh milk and
produces a range of full cream, flavoured and modified fresh and
UHT milks, with leading brands such as Pura, Dairy Farmers, Moove,
Farmers Union, Dare, Big M and Masters.
National Foods is also the leader in the fresh dairy foods market
where the company manufactures a range of yogurts, fromage frais,
dairy desserts and cream under brands including Yoplait, Fruche,
Thick and Creamy, YoGo and Divine Classic.
In 2005, National Foods and the Berri
Ltd juice business merged, combining leading juice brands such as
Berri, Daily Juice, Australian Fresh, Just Juice and many more into
the portfolio.
The company also produces a range of
premium specialty cheeses under brands such as King Island, South
Cape, Tasmanian Heritage, Mersey Valley, Tilba, Timboon, and Heidi
Farm, along with the popular block cheddar brands of Coon and
Cracker Barrel.
In New Zealand, National Foods
manufactures and markets Yoplait yogurts and a range of other dairy
products. In addition to Australia and New Zealand, the company
holds the Yoplait brand licence in Singapore and Hong Kong. The
company also exports cheese to many countries throughout the world,
while milk and fresh dairy products are exported primarily to the
Asian region.
National Foods also operates in the soy beverage market through a
joint venture with Vitasoy International Holdings of Hong Kong. A
production plant in Wodonga, Victoria is supplying ESL and UHT soy
drinks to the Australian and New Zealand markets.
National Foods has production
facilities and sales offices in every Australian State as well as
New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia (ice-cream) and Indonesia (juice)
and employs approximately 5,000 people.
