Andrew's first camp

Andrew is one of our campers and lives on a station way west of Mackay. The isolation means that there's not a lot of socialising compared to most kids and you can understand that his parents are very protective.

When we first suggested that Andrew (now 10 years old) come along on a camp which was about 700 kms from home, his mum was very adamant that he would not attend and Andrew felt the same.

After lots of assurance from the Camp Quality crew Andrew was given the green light by mum and joined the Mackay team of campers and headed for camp.

Everyone at camp had an absolute ball. When the campers returned home after their five day fun therapy session, Andrew had the biggest smile on his face. As they drove home on the long trip from the Mackay airport to the western property, Andrew gave his mum a serious look and said "I know I've been a kid for a long time but Mum, I'm now mature!  I know how to do a lot of things that I didn't before the camp but I'm now mature so you can rely a lot more on me."

Andrew can't wait for the next camp.
