Green Apple Bayside to Bald Hills run, walk or cycle

It was smiles all round at Camp Quality and a few sore muscles this week as staff and supporters recovered from the Green Apple Wellness Center's Bayside to Bald Hills fun run, walk or cycle and Health Fair where $15,000 was raised on the day with more money still to come in.

The annual event took place on Sunday 26th July and saw participants running, walking or cycling to raise money to help the charity with its ultimate goal of bringing laughter to the lives of children and their family affected by cancer.

Camp Quality is a national charity that brings hope and optimism to children and families affected by cancer through what they call FUN THERAPY.

The Bayside to Bald Hills event, now in its 24th year, has successfully raised over $160,000 for the charity; a figure which Camp Quality says is "outstanding".

Brooke Kenzler, Area Manager for Camp Quality's South East Queensland office, says this contribution will make a huge difference to the lives of children and their families affected by cancer and will brings smiles and laughter to children and families at a time when they need it most, when the child is sick.

"The funds raised by the Green Apple Wellness Centre this year are truly inspirational," she said.

The Green Apple Wellness Centre raised funds through entry fees, sponsors, funds collected by participants and a raffle and auction held at the finish where runners, walkers and cyclists were greeted by a carnival of supporters and a Health Fair.

Instead of awarding prizes to the fastest participants, the event rewarded those who raised the most funds and looked the silliest on the day.  Congratulations go to Loretta Ryan of 4BH who won highest individual fundraiser and donated the WII back to Camp Quality, Pat Gray who took out the highest non participant fundraiser with her handmade quilt raffle, Rose Kelly Real Estate who raised over $1800 and received the highest team fundraiser and also her team was awarded best themed team as they walked 6kms in wigs and colorful items of clothing.

All participants were treated to a complimentary breakfast and health fair designed to educate and inform and received a medallion for their efforts.

It was truly a great day for all who attended by the real winners are the children and families of Camp Quality.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTED THIS FABULOUS EVENT :)
