Our programs

We know that when a child is diagnosed with cancer it sends ripple effects through the entire family. For this reason Camp Quality is committed to supporting everyone in the family, so this means our programs offer something for everyone!

Recreational program

Each year we run 5 age-specific kids camps.

  • Junior Camp - 3 day camp for campers (diagnosed kids and sibs) aged 4 - 8years.
  • Main Camp - 5 day camp for campers (diagnosed kids) aged 9 - 12years.
  • Mid Sibs Camp - 3 day camp for siblings aged 9 - 12years.
  • Senior Camp - 5 day camp for campers (diagnosed kids) aged 13 - 17years.
  • Senior Sibs Camp - 3 day camp for siblings aged 13 - 17years.

As you can see some are just for our campers, our kids diagnosed with cancer and some which are specifically for siblings, all our CQ brothers and sisters.

We will also run a whole swag of great family camps which offer the same fun and laughter as our kid's camps with the added bonus of no cooking for mum and dad! You will enjoy a very relaxing weekend away anywhere between the Gold and Sunshine Coasts.

We also have fantastic family fun days in your local area, giving you the chance to meet other CQ families. Family fun days are in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba.

Hospital program

South QLD CQ is also very lucky to have Giggle attend the Royal Brisbane Childrens Hospital on Thursdays. Giggle is Camp Quality's fabulous robotic, bike riding boy. His time is spent at the hospital providing Fun Therapy to children within the oncology ward and outpatients clinic. Giggles visits are published on our Sth Qld Giggle Blog page, along with photos, weekly.

Family support

Family support is a big part of our commitment to our CQ families in South QLD. We have a close relationship with the Children's Oncology Social Work team who help support families when they are in hospital and let us know how we can assist too. We are also looking to build increased regular support for families through our family mentoring program, which will support our camps and family days.

Educational program

The McDonald's Camp Quality Puppet program is an education program for Primary School children that delivers free Fun Therapy!

The program is suitable for all primary schools, is accredited by Education Queensland and delivers a fun, lively interactive puppet show breaking down the barriers and fears about cancer. Its key message is 'It's uncool to be cruel' which is an essential tool when children return to school while going through their cancer treatment.

If you would like the puppets to visit your primary school you can book online.

Be sure to visit our What's on section regularly. It's where you will find out all about our camps, our fun days, our fundraising events and any other fun stuff that's happening in your local CQ.

Family love

My name is Kelsey Burt and I'm nearly 20 years old.

My story starts 17 years ago when I was 3 years old. I became very sick and my mum started a battle with the doctors arguing day after day until they diagonsed me with ALL: Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.

I was lucky enough to have a pretty good start to my chemo, not too many ups ands downs. When I was 5 Camp Quailty approached us and asked if I wanted to start attending camps. I started attending 2 camps a year, (ducadang and res camp).

I made the best friends of my life at camp, we attended family camps and mother daughter weekends. Going to camp every year was the best thing ever. I used to start the count down as soon as one camp finished. Attending these camps was like being in your own little world. A world of understanding, dreams and laughter.

The year I started senior camp I felt so grown up, I felt a sense of accomplishment moving from res to senior camp. I kept a lot of the same friends from res camp as well as made some new best friends at senior.

Being apart of Camp Quality gave me a place to be me, to talk to others about our experiences, our dreams our ups and downs and of course boys, makeup and all the normal girlie chit chat.

Camp Quality opened up my whole outlook on life. I finshed chemo at the age of 6 and went through a lot of ups and downs at school accepting who I was and what I had gone through also what my family had gone through, I felt like i was to blame.

Being apart of Camp Quality is like being a part of a family. I can't wait to become a part of Camp Quality myself soon as I miss it dearly and I hope to be able to give another young child the support and friendship that Camp Quality gave me and my family.
