Our programs

In Tasmania, variety, fun and personalised support is the key to providing activities to our Camp Quality families. We ensure that our programs are responsive to our Camp Quality families needs.

Recreational program

Our camping program consists of our Tackers & Teens main residential camps, Junior & Senior Camps and Family Camps. These camps provide a wonderfully unique opportunity for a child with cancer to put their illness behind them for a few days and concentrate on being a child again.

We also run a wide variety of Family Fun Days / Activities, Mothers Luncheons, Dad's Days, Parent Dinners and Kids Christmas Parties.  Family fun days are sponsored by various community groups / organisations and businesses that generously organise and donate their services.

In Tasmania our Family Camps are extremely successful, we are currently running four Family Camps per year and, due to increased demand, hope to extend this to six camps for 2009.  Family Camps offer an opportunity to bring both current and new families together at locations around Tasmania. Family Camps enable families to relax and join in the fun and relaxing activities whilst sharing the company of other families who are going through or been through similar experiences.

Be sure to visit our what's on section regularly. It's where you will find out all about our camps and our fun days.

Hospital program

As part of our local hospital program, we contribute to building specialised treatment and waiting rooms in the Royal Hobart Hospital for kids living with cancer. These rooms will be bright, colourful, uplifting and optimistic.

Family support

Family support is a big part of our commitment to our CQ families in Tasmania. The hospital notifies us as soon as a child begins treatment and we liaise with the families to make sure they are covered for practical things like a car parking pass, phone cards etc. We offer unwavering support to our families, visiting them in hospital, staying with the children while the parents meet with doctors and helping out whenever we can.

Educational program

The much anticipated McDonald's Camp Quality Puppets tour local primary schools twice a year.Schools are selected based on the local community need to educate children in schools where a child is living with cancer. The puppet show is fun, interactive and breaks down barriers and fears around cancer.

When our puppets next come to town you will see it featured in the what's on section.
