Hi, my name is Kylie and I'm living with cancer. It's leukaemia
- that's a type of cancer in the blood. I have to have heaps
and heaps of medicine which is really yuk, but the doctors say it's
really important to kill all the cancer cells. I'm getting better
and that's good. But do you know what happened? Well, all that
medicine is really, really strong and it made all my hair fall out.
Yep, it's all gone. That's why I wear my hat most places I go.
You know sometimes I get a bit embarrassed about how I look,
'cause I do look a bit different. Sometimes people stare at me.
That kind of makes me feel a bit sad. But the good thing is I have
made so many cool friends at Camp Quality.
The really cool thing about going to Camp Quality is that it's
just for kids and families living with cancer. We've all had the
special medicine and we all know what it's like. It's great 'cause
we can talk about heaps of stuff, stuff that most of my friends at
school don't really understand.
At camp we have so much fun. That's what it's all about at Camp
Quality: fun! I have done heaps of cool things like abseiling,
horse riding, canoeing. I have a companion called Jane, and she
gets to do all the fun stuff with me. She's kind of like my best
friend. Well actually, I've got heaps of best friends at camp. I
love it!
