What's the puppet program?
Established in 1988, it's an educational program for primary
schools that uses life-size puppets to deliver a fun and positive
message about supporting children living with cancer and other
serious illness.
Who are they for?
They are available to all primary schools, some pre-schools
and children's hospitals.
Why was it established?
The program was initially established to facilitate the return
of children to school after treatment for cancer. Campers told Camp
Quality that their peers didn't understand why they looked
'different'. The puppet program informs and educates, resulting in
greater sensitivity and support for those who face medical
challenges.
How does it fit the school curriculum?
It fits in the PDHPE area of the curriculum. Teachers' materials
for K-6 are provided.
How much does it cost?
It's free, thanks to McDonald's Australia who have
exclusively sponsored this program since 1989!
