Stuff you might want to know!
- Can I go to camp if I am very
sick?
It's up to the child's doctor, if the doctor says yes, and we
can find the medical staff, it's all systems go! It really can help
your recovery!
- Do we sleep in tents?
No, normally you'll sleep in cabins, sometimes there
might be a sleep-out.
- Where are the camps held?
All over the place, check out What's on. We don't have our own camping
grounds.
- Can I go if I have a disability as well as
cancer?
Yes, we have children with other disabilities who are able to be
supported by our medical staff and trained companions.
- How much does it cost?
It's free, your family will not be asked to pay a fee for
registration or for participation in any Camp Quality program.
- I live out of town can I still
join?
Yes! We have 13 local CQs around Australia.
- Mum wants to know if I will be insured if I
go to a camp?
Yes. We are careful that everything included in our
program has been approved by our insurers. Our general insurance
covers children at all events organised by Camp Quality.
- Can I go to camp without my parents?
Yes, we have lots of kids' age range camps.
- Can my brother and sister come too?
Most of the time. We believe that families need to do things
together - your siblings need support too. We don't want them to
feel left out. We include your brothers and
sisters whenever we can fit them in.
- How many camps can I go to each year?
You can go to one kids' camp (with a companion)
and a family camp, and then there are fun days too!
- Dad wants to know if you are affiliated with any
religious groups?
No, without the help of Saints Church in the early days Camp
Quality would not have grown as fast as it did. However, we have
children of many religions and races taking part in our programs
and we celebrate our diversity.
- Can you come to camp if you are in
remission?
Yes! Many of our children are in remission. We know that you
still face challenges not shared by children who have not been
ill. At camp everyone will understand.
- How many kids come on camp?
This depends on the venue, the funding and the advice of our
medical advisers. We understand the health problems that large
camps pose and work with our advisers to keep numbers at a level
that poses the least risk.
- How old do I have to be to go to
camp?
Our children are aged from birth to eighteen. Our tiny babies and
their families go on family camps and day outings. You
can start 'camp' at age four in some
locations.
How do I sign up to attend?
To attend our camps and fun days
you need to be registered.
