Dreams can come true!

In 1992 I was at a party catching up with friends chatting about the fact that I wanted to support children on some level through volunteer work. As fate would have it, the person I spoke to happened to be the daughter of the then Area Manager for Camp Quality SA.

After hearing all about CQ I decided that I would give the office a call and put in my application as a volunteer, and this is where my journey with Camp Quality began.

Within a month of my application I was assigned a camper. She was seven years old and lived in Regional SA. Being a companion to Tracey was the most rewarding thing I have ever done. I felt so honoured that her parents trusted me enough to look after their daughter for a five day camp a long way from home and Tracey and I built a friendship which will be with us both for the rest of our lives.

My addiction to Camp Quality grew. I stayed being a companion for many years but then also took on the role as Camp Leader and Volunteer Liaison. I clearly could see first hand the positive impact Camp Quality had, not just on our families but also our volunteers and donors.

In 2005 my dream became reality; I was offered the role as Area Manager for SA. I was given the opportunity to work for an organisation I believed in, respected and was very passionate about. How lucky was I!

I was the Area Manger for SA for three years and am now the Regional Manager for the South/West Region (Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania).

Sixteen years have gone by very fast. I have met some amazing children, families, volunteers, donors and fellow employees. They have all taught me that life is good, that we should make the most of every moment and appreciate the little things.

I love the fact that I am part of an organisation which makes a difference in this world. It's a great privilege to be part of the Camp Quality family.
