Life Through My Eyes

Hi, my name is Sareya and I had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) when I was three. Before I was diagnosed I thought nothing could ever hurt me, but life proved me wrong.

After feeling sick for a couple of weeks and an admission to FMC, my mum was told I was close to dying. Luckily WCH knew that I would need chemotherapy so I was transferred to the Brookman ward. I had two years of treatment and it made me feel really sick.

One day my mum and I were in the Brookman ward when Sue Pike a social worker suggested Camp Quality to us. My mum thought it would be good for me to make some more friends that knew what it felt like to be different.

I was in Ronnie Mac when I met Paige. She didn't have ALL like me, she had a tumor. We did everything together shared food, entertained each other, made arts & crafts together and watched movies. We were BFFLs.

In 07 my friend Paige was in a critical position. All she wanted to do was go on a camp to Qld. So her mum Peta organised a cycle called the Adelaide to Darwin trip. They raised enough money to go. The camp was in October, but a massive event happened in March, Paige had died. I couldn't believe it, my best friend dead. After that I cherished every moment with friends. The camp was amazing and I would give anything to go back to Qld.

I'm not going to tell you about my camp experiences, but I will tell you where I went. Albury outdoor camp, Annesley college, Queensland, Scotch College, Mylor, Wirrina Cove And this year were going to Walker Flat. If it hadn't been for camp Quality I don't know what I would of done. I will never forget the experiences I had and the people I have met. Miss ya Paige and I will never forget you
