We're here for you.
Here at Camp Quality we recognise that the reality for many Australians right now is harsh, whether being affected directly by the drought or the bushfires, breathing in the smoke, or watching as lives, land, animals and homes are tragically lost.
Camp Quality families often say that it is in the darkest time of the cancer experience their community pulls together around them. We are seeing this on a grand scale right now in Australia because of the drought and the bushfires. It is heartening to see the outpouring of support from across the country and the world. If you are impacted by these fires, we want you to know we are here for you too.
How can we help?
We know from over 35 years of experience in the cancer area what it is like to deal with trauma and emotional distress so, our 24-hour EAP phone counselling support service is now available free to all registered families or volunteers who need to talk to a counsellor.
For Camp Quality parents already worried about their children’s mental and physical health during a cancer experience, this is a particularly stressful time. We can recommend these tips on talking to children about the bushfires from UNICEF and the AirVisual app for iPhone or Android to help monitor air quality for delicate lungs.
As an organisation with over 1,200 recreation program volunteers, we would also like to acknowledge the RFS volunteers working tirelessly to fight these bushfires. Firefighters are one of the favourite visitors on our Kids’ Camps and we couldn’t be more grateful for their skills and dedication right now.
