Camp Quality COVID update

We all miss Camps and Fun Days but at Camp Quality, the safety of our kids, families, volunteers and staff is always our top priority.

Ever since the news of COVID-19 broke in Australia, we have constantly reviewed plans for our face-to-face services and programs, in line with government health guidelines and restrictions in each State and Territory across the country. Now, after assessing the current situation, nationally, we have regrettably made the difficult decision to postpone or cancel all planned face-to-face programs until the end of October 2020. This includes all Primary School Education Programs, Family Fun Days and Camps, except for those scheduled in WA.

We are aware that this is an extremely challenging time for everyone; particularly those with family members with a suppressed immune system. As much as we want our kids and families to enjoy a break from cancer on one of our programs, it is more important that everyone stays safe.

It is also imperative we keep our staff and volunteers safe. As soon as we can, we will get back to all the great things we do here at Camp Quality; but for now, we will remain creative providing support through our digital programs and services. Camp Quality’s Kids Guide to Cancer app and New Normal Navigator app will keep providing cancer resources for kids and supporting families returning home from hospital during this difficult time. In hospital, our Child Life Therapists continue to be there for our kids in Melbourne and Newcastle.

We will continue to monitor the situation and make a further announcement again in mid- September, letting you know how we are tracking for the remainder of 2020.

In the meantime, our thoughts are with the entire Camp Quality family as we navigate through this situation. For a dose of digital positivity check out Camp Quality’s Happiness Hub for new fun activities, videos, stories and inspiration, every week!

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their patience, efforts, support and commitment to our organisation. We cannot wait to see as many people as possible back, having fun and putting smiles on all our kids’ and families’ faces - as soon as it is safe to do so.

Kind regards,

Simon Jarvis
