Jungle-themed Junior Camp a roar-ing success
For Camp Quality Victoria’s 2016 Junior Camp, a number of amazing volunteers planned a safari through the jungle for kids, aged seven to nine, who are living with cancer! The weekend kicked off with African drumming at Moonee Valley Racecourse as a way to introduce the kids to their volunteer companions. Whilst on the bus ride to Bacchus Marsh they enjoyed the Jungle Book movie which set the tone prior to arrival.
Once they arrived at camp, the kids were greeted by the awesome Camp Quality puppets, Kylie & Dean, to play some games and have lunch before getting straight into the main camp activities. These activities tested their teamwork through the giant swing, hut building, and raft making.
After dinner everyone jumped into their jungle costumes and headed out for a night hike around the campsite, followed by damper making and some more jungle inspired games!
The second day saw a giant scavenger hunt at Melbourne Zoo, where the kids learnt all about their favourite animals with their volunteer companions!
Our Camp Quality kids wouldn’t have been able to enjoy this amazing fun weekend without the help of all the donors who support the Bendigo Master Plumbers Gold Day. So many new friendships were made and lots of laughter shared between campers and volunteers. We can’t wait to do it again in 2017 with your ongoing support!
