Families spend quality time together in Dubbo
Another successful Family Camp was held on the 2nd – 4th September in Dubbo. Eleven ACT families from all over the region got the chance to spend some quality time together and with other families on the cancer journey. The weekend was action packed with some of Dubbo's finest attractions.
Families spent time at the Old Dubbo Gaol, watching interactive performances where families and volunteers had to help a prisoner escape the gaol, and shared a big group lunch with members of the council who cooked the BBQ for the Family Camp.
Next was Father’s Day craft activities and on Saturday night a big camp dinner and disco at the local Dubbo Golf Course. On the final day families spent the day at the Taronga Western Plains Zoo and either biked or carted around the zoo, followed by a big group lunch.
About Camp Quality's Family Camps
Camp Quality’s camps offer families living with cancer the chance for a weekend escape, an opportunity to reconnect, have fun and relax.
The camps cater for the whole family at no cost. Everyone gets to join in the fun. Kids-only activities are also scheduled, so parents have a chance to unwind too.
The relaxing and supportive environment is also an opportunity to meet and talk with other parents and children going through similar experiences and build strength through solidarity.
Family camps provide a break from the stresses of home and hospital, a getaway designed to help the whole family recharge, reduce stress, and increase resilience and the ability to cope.
