Camp Quality families taken by ‘Storm'
It was a day to remember when four of our families travelled to AAMI park, with purple and gold in their sights. Christian Welch (Storm Second Row Prop) enthusiastically greeted the families and was proud to give them a tour of the Melbourne Storm headquarters. There were plenty of ‘oohs’ and ‘ahhs’ and time to ask questions. Remi (6), held Christian’s hand the whole way.
After the tour, the families were taken to see the official Captain’s Run and meet the team’s all-star players. Everyone was so excited to have a kick of the footy and take photos with their sporting idols. The kids looked like part of the team in their new individually signed Melbourne Storm hats and were smiling from ear to ear.
Thanks to the generosity of the Melbourne Storm, our families were also gifted VIP Game Day tickets to see the Storm compete against the Rabbitohs. The team put on an extra impressive show for Camp Quality and took home a glorious win.
Our families felt the day was a vital break which helped them to strengthen their wellbeing and make memories not centred on sickness. It was an opportunity to reconnect as a family, enjoy a great game and have a good laugh.
A huge thank you to Christian Welch and the Melbourne Storm team for inviting our families along to what will truly be an experience to remember.
About Camp Quality Family Experiences
Family Experiences give families impacted by cancer the chance to reconnect and create memories outside of hospital. Experiences may be tickets to events, sporting matches or shows which are generously donated to Camp Quality and then shared with our families. In 2016 over 1,800 familes went on a Family Experience.
