A jam packed weekend for our ACT families
A weekend of fun, sun and laughs were had by our ACT families during the Family Camp in Canberra.
Upon arrival on the Friday night at the Ibis Styles Eaglehawk our families all gathered for a pizza buffet dinner in the outside garden. Dinner was followed by a family games night which saw mum’s being covered in toilet paper to be dressed as a 'mummy', lots of big belly laughs and a trivia challenge. It was a perfect night for all our families to meet one another in a fun, relaxed environment.
On Saturday families got their craft on and decorated their canvases with what Camp Quality means to them. We got everyone to present these back to the group, once the artworks had a chance to dry. The families and volunteers then headed over the join everyone else at the Christmas party at Big Splash – which saw parents, kids and volunteers getting involved in all the waterslides and it was great to see everyone catching up and sharing the Camp Quality love. Parents got the chance to have some adults only time and enjoyed a roast dinner buffet while volunteers hung out with the kids and had a movie night.
Sunday was a jam packed day with a visit to Questacon, learning the fun side to science. There was something for everyone at Questacon, with some brave campers even taking on the challenge of the Giant Slide!
We'd like to thank Ibis Styles Eaglehawk, Big Splash, Questacon and our amazing volunteers for all their support putting the unforgettable weekend together.
About Camp Quality Camps
Our camps provide an essential break away from the stresses of a cancer diagnosis for both kids and their families. Kids experience time away from home that is centred on pure fun and optimism. Families get a break from the day to day stresses of treatment, which also allows for parents to reconnect and bond with siblings who often feel a little neglected. We also provide the opportunity for kids and families to form life-long friendships and support networks. We connect people who are going through similar situations and who are at varying stages of their cancer journey. Our camps range from kids only Mini Camp to Junior Camp and Middle Camp. We also run Family Camps that cater to the entire family.
