New camp in WA to give kids facing the diagnosis of a caregiver a much-needed break

In a Camp Quality first, children dealing with a parent or carer’s cancer diagnosis will be invited to attend one of two pilot Kids’ Camps in WA. Every year in Australia, an estimated 40,000 kids are impacted by the frightening reality of a primary carer’s cancer diagnosis.

Traditionally, our Kids’ Camps have been available to children facing their own cancer diagnosis, and their siblings. The evolution of this program means kids facing the diagnosis of a parent or caregiver will also have the chance to have a break away where they can just be kids again.

Lotterywest has been incredibly generous in funding both pilot Kid’s Camps, which will be held in Western Australia in May and September of this year. Up to 120 kids are expected to attend. As pilots, these camps are a way for Camp Quality to learn how we can best support these children into the future. With so many needing support, these camps are just the beginning, and we are so excited to get started.

Camp Quality is the only not-for-profit organisation in Australia specifically supporting these kids and helping them be kids again. We rely heavily on the generosity of everyday Australians to help us reach them.
