wesCarpade 2018

DATE:  4th – 12th August 2018

LOCATION: Salt to Sand Tour

wesCarpade is a culmination of year-long fundraising by teams of entrants (wesCarpadians). They spend months decorating their cars (which must be at least 20 years old, pre-1998) and encouraging people to donate to their fundraising activities.

Each entrant must raise at least $5,000 per car. The money goes directly to Camp Quality and our work to support children impacted by cancer and their families.

Each year the 30+ cars come together over seven days, for a week fuelled by fun, filled with challenges and rewarding experiences. Driving skills will be put to the test as entrant’s tackle dirt roads travelling through unique and picturesque areas of outback Western Australia

Along the way we'll pull into towns with a fanfare of sirens, horns, lights and colour to spread the Camp Quality cheer. We visit local schools with Camp Quality's Primary School Education Program who perform an interactive puppet show that dispels common myths and misconceptions about cancer.

This outback motoring adventure attracts adults of all ages from all locations and the one thing they all have in common is a big heart. We have some loyal veterans who have been part of this adventure for over 6 years... but we all love a newbie!

It’s not a race or a rally. It’s a huge dose of the best medicine: laughter. If you'd like to get involved or want more information, email Kylie Muriale at

How your support helps

At Camp Quality, we know a cancer experience places enormous physical, emotional and financial stress on families. Our programs and services are designed to meet the specific wellbeing needs of children (0-13 years) growing up with cancer, and their families, free of charge.

Family Liaison Coordinators

Family Liaison Coordinators help families make sense of the healthcare system. They visit children’s hospitals around the country every week with a friendly face, acting as a resource centre to help families navigate the hospital system and access the services they need on their return home.

Primary School Education Program

Our puppets, Kylie, Dean and Melissa visit the primary schools and pre-schools of children diagnosed with cancer, and children who have a diagnosed parent or sibling, across Australia. They perform free junior primary and upper primary shows, accompanied by teaching resources.

The show explores the side effects of cancer treatment, the anxieties of a child returning to school, how to be supportive of a classmate impacted by cancer, the power of positivity and that cancer isn’t contagious. Giving students the facts about cancer in this way helps reduce the likelihood of bullying, exclusion and anxiety.

Camps & Fun Days

Each year, we run 3 Kids’ Camps; Mini Camp (4–6 years old), Junior Camp (7-9 years old) and Middle Camp (10-12 years old). Kids experience time away from their parents, filled with fun and optimism to help build resilience, independence and valuable life skills. Each child has a dedicated camp companion to ensure they are supported to have the best time.

Family Camps are an opportunity for families to reconnect with each other and make new connections with families in a similar situation. This builds their toolkit of resources for the ongoing experiences they face and can create lifelong friendships. It is an opportunity to relax and make memories not centred on sickness - often for the first time since a diagnosis.

Fun Days are Camp Quality planned events where families get together and enjoy something they may not otherwise have the opportunity to do, or the time to organise themselves.

Family Experiences are tickets to events or shows provided to Camp Quality to share with our families.

Cost to enter

Everyone participating in wesCarpade pay a levy to cover Meals & Entertainment ($750pp) and must be paid prior to the start of wesCarpade. We will arrange for all entertainment and meals on the event from breakfast on day one to dinner on the final night of the event

Each entrant must raise at least $5,000 per car. The money goes directly to Camp Quality and our work to support children impacted by cancer and their families.

Camp Quality will produce an accommodation guide available in the lead up to the event. This list will provide suggested accommodation options in each of the towns we pass through. All teams are responsible for arranging and paying for their own accommodation
