KICC Family Fun in July

This last month, we were able to deliver many of our programs and services to families in need. Let us recap a few!
Our KICC (Kids Impacted by Carer’s Cancer) families had their first event in Victoria for the year, and it went off with a bang in Bellarine. Everyone hung 10 for an epic morning of surfing and for some it was their very first time on a surfboard! A day in the water had everyone ready for some dinner which was kindly sponsored by Ocean Grove Rotary Club, followed by The Mex Restaurant the next night. To finish the weekend off, families enjoyed a day on the green at Adventure Golf.
Families enjoyed a relaxing and heartfelt break in Huskisson, taking in the beautiful seaside surroundings. We helped them feel right at ease on the water with some stand up paddle boarding and an incredible dolphin watch cruise! Camp Quality Mum, Faye, shared beautiful comments about her family’s time away, telling us,
“There’s something very special about hanging out with other families who are living and breathing childhood cancer. The conversations we have are confronting at times. They’re also funny, inspiring, and comforting when you know you’re talking to someone who *really* gets what you’ve been through; are going through, and still have ahead of you.
We had so much fun together…. the sun came out (amazing!), we got to hang out on the beach and SUP/kayak the morning away, we all had dinner together in the club, got to go on a dolphin cruise, and then enjoyed a big lunch as a group before waving goodbye to new friends and holding on to memory making moments we’ll never forget.
There’s something very special about Camp Quality – and the people that we meet through events like these hold a very special place in my heart.”
Spoilt with the perfect Queensland weather, our Ashmore Palms Family Camp was a hit for every family member. Parents were able to connect at a parent only dinner, and receive a relaxing massage. Meanwhile, the kids were entertained by a wonderful magician who had everyone in stitches with laughter! The next day, everyone’s fears were put to the test as they enjoyed a thrilling wildlife show; a few brave participants held snakes and crocodiles. All families also took home hand-made pot plants that were decorated during arts ‘n’ crafts time. So much fun in one weekend!
30 kids joined for a camp absolutely packed full of activities including an obstacle course, surfing, a beach party, low ropes, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding and more. For 9 kids it was a very special camp – their final one and they had special celebrations like a limo ride and a graduation ceremony.
Will you help the fun continue for Camp Quality kids and families waiting for their chance to go on a program?
