June was packed full of fun for our families facing cancer, from superheros to snow, to reptiles and so much more! Read on to hear about Kids’ Camps, Family Camps, Family Fun Days, and Mini Camps which ALL happened in June, all around Australia!
A SUPERHERO Kids’ Camp was held at Serpentine Camping Centre in Perth.
It was a wonderful opportunity for kids to have some fun, laugh and feel like kids again – maybe ever a little more SUPER! Kids spent the Saturday creating their superhero costumes and then participating in a Superhero challenge where they had to watch our for supervillain Captain Sabotage who was on the loose to mess everything up!
SA families braved the wild winter weather at our West Beach Family Camp! Families had a ball at The Beach House, West Beach Mini Golf and lastly, patting scaly and furry creatures with an Animals Anonymous wildlife presentation. Everyone appreciated the opportunity to connect as a family and meet families facing similar challenges.
A Wintery Wonderland Family Camp was held in Canberra for our families who were able to enjoy a session of scarf and snow globe making, bush cooking, crate climbing and a vertical ropes challenge. On Sunday families got to enjoy snow play, like making snow angels, having snowball fights and tobogganing at Corin Forest.
We had a special Safari Family Fun Day for our Child Patient & KICC (Kids Impacted by a Carer’s cancer) families last Sunday. Families got to enjoy making and designing potted succulents, safari hats and a scavenger hunt. Roving Park Rangers also gave our Camp Quality families special up-close opportunities to interact with the reptiles and park animals.
3,2,1, Blast off! On Saturday 18th of June, 19 mini campers dressed as astronauts and rocketed into outer space with moon puppets, face painting, a photo booth,
Activities included playing with alien space slime, rocket ships, catching a Galaxy in a jar and then finishing with a space disco. Our little campers made cupcakes that were out of this world. Good enough for a Space Ranger to eat. It was their first time with Camp Quality for some campers, and all parents were so happy to see the positive memories their young children made after going through cancer treatment.
