Kids' Guide to Cancer app
Our free Kids’ Guide to Cancer app is a valuable tool to help answer the most common questions children have about cancer in a safe, interactive and educational way.
Each family’s new normal will be different. Some families may feel relieved, while others will be uncertain about leaving the safety net of the hospital. Other parents and carers grapple with anxiety about their child’s symptoms returning. As such, Camp Quality’s New Normal Navigator app is designed to help each family navigate their own set of issues.
The app, which personalises to a family’s situation, is packed with tips from parents who have ‘been there’, useful articles, and great fun therapy ideas.
The New Normal Navigator helps guide families through practical situations they may face after treatment, including:
The app also provides strategies to boost the whole family’s emotional wellbeing, such as:
Over many years, families have told us the return home from hospital after intensive cancer treatment can be both a happy and daunting time. Many families said they felt unsure of where to look for further support.
Camp Quality consulted with families through a survey and one-on-one interviews to understand the challenges more in-depth, and then used these insights to build the New Normal Navigator app.
Parents and carers have been involved in all stages of developing the app, sharing their tips and personal experiences, and providing feedback through the testing phase. The New Normal Navigator was developed by digital agency Isobar with funding from the federal government.
Have you or someone you know downloaded the app and used it? We would love to hear what you think!
