Volunteer FAQ

What is the volunteer recruitment process?

We have many volunteer opportunities available across metropolitan and regional Australia.

Are you over 18, passionate about helping kids, love working in a team and can donate your time? You can register your interest to become a volunteer here.

Our volunteer recruitment process is thorough so that we can safeguard our kids and find the right volunteers who share the Camp Quality values and culture. The recruitment process includes:

  • An interview
  • Reference checks
  • Completing a Working with Children’s Check or Police Check (based on state/territory legislation)

For more information on what opportunities are available or how the process works, please speak to our volunteer recruitment team on 1300 662 267.

Is Camp Quality an Equal Opportunity Employer?

Camp Quality is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer. We ensure our volunteers are respected and treated equitably, irrespective of gender, ethnicity, political, religious beliefs, physical ability, family status, age or sexual preference.

How does Camp Quality safeguard kids?

Camp Quality is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people in our care.

We are steadfast in our responsibility to promote best practice and to protect children from harm, abuse and neglect.
We have a number of measures in place to protect children as outlined in our three policies:

Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy
Responding to Suspected Child Abuse Policy
Working with Children Check Police Check Policy

We are proud to hold a national Safeguarding Children Accreditation with the Australian Childhood Foundation.

If you have any questions or concerns about our Safeguarding Children practices please contact the Volunteer and Safeguarding Children Advisor on 1800 CQ SAFE (1800 277 233).

Is there an age limit?

Due to the nature of our organisation we require our volunteers to be a minimum of 18 years of age.

Are there any fitness requirements?

Our volunteers need to be fit and able to perform tasks of the particular volunteer role. Some volunteer roles can be physically demanding at Camp Quality, especially Camps and Fundraising events.

Camp Quality has a strong safety culture and the health and wellbeing of our people is the utmost importance to us.

If you have physical limitations but still want to help please discuss options with one of our friendly staff.

What is the time commitment?

The time and commitment required varies depending on the role and the needs of the local Camp Quality office.

Generally we require Camp and Fundraising-based volunteers to attend at least two events each year. Admin volunteers should be available for at least one day per month during office hours.

Does it cost money to volunteer?

We cover the costs of training our volunteers, as well as the costs of attending camps, ie accommodation, meals, activities, etc. It can be quite expensive to cover the cost of our volunteers attending our Camps and other events. We love to see and encourage our volunteers to fundraise to help cover the costs.

Are there short term volunteering opportunities?

Our volunteer screening process is thorough, including an interview, reference check and Working with Children or Police Check (based on State/Territory legislation).
Because of this we do not offer short-term volunteering opportunities for Admin or Camp based roles.

However, there are opportunities to run a fundraising event on behalf of Camp Quality. Find out more about runnning a fundraising event.

Will training be provided?

We provide full training for all volunteers. For Admin and Fundraising-based volunteers training is provided on the job.

For Camp based volunteers we provide a full-day training at predetermined dates throughout the year.

When are the Camps held?

Our Recreation programs are all year round. Generally speaking:

  • Family Camps run from Friday night to Sunday afternoon
  • Family Fun Days and Mini Camp day are run on weekends or during school holidays
  • Kids Camps are generally run in school holidays and range from 1–3 days

Can I still volunteer if I have a full time job?

Yes! Many fundraising events are held on the weekend or evenings. Some or the shorter 1-2 day Rec programs are held over the weekend, while the 1–3 day Camp programs are held during the week.

I live in a regional area. Can I volunteer?

Yes, you can volunteer. We have families living in regional areas, so there may be volunteering opportunities at local camps or events.
You can also hold a fundraising event or become part of a local ‘Fun Raising Group’. Contact us to find out more about what is available in your area.

Does Camp Quality offer corporate volunteering opportunities?

Yes. We love working with organisations to create a unique and fun corporate volunteering opportunity. Talk to us about how we can develop a meaningful and mutually beneficial relationship.
