Cancer Hub Funding Extended

Federal Government announces $9.4m to continue delivering Cancer Hub until 2027.

It’s only been 18 months since Canteen, Camp Quality and Redkite came together to launch Cancer Hub based on a shared vision that all Australian families impacted by cancer should get the right support quickly and easily.

In that time, we have already helped around 2,600 families more easily access the practical and emotional support services they need to deal with the immense – and varied – challenges of cancer. Cancer Hub’s cancer navigation team has also provided close to 4,700 dedicated support sessions to almost 250 parents who have a child with cancer.

It’s clear that Cancer Hub is making a positive difference, which is why we’re delighted that the Australian Government has today announced $9.4m in funding to enable us to continue delivering this vital service until 2027.

Families impacted by cancer can easily be overwhelmed. In addition to making treatment decisions, they’re often facing many other issues such as financial pressures, accommodation needs and parenting arrangements. Cancer can also take a significant toll on the mental health and wellbeing of every family member, not just the person diagnosed.

Cancer Hub acts as a one stop shop so that finding support doesn’t become yet another challenge on the list.

Specially trained staff identify every family member’s needs and then actively help them access the practical and emotional support services they need. Through Cancer Hub, families who have a child with cancer can additionally access dedicated cancer navigators who support them every step of the way through their child’s treatment and beyond.
