Jenny was one of the top fundraisers from our Big Ride for Little Kids in 2022, raising $5,353 to help families like her own.
Jenny’s motivation was very personal: she was diagnosed with breast cancer while pregnant with her second son, Matis. She had a mastectomy and four rounds of chemo while pregnant and had to leave baby Matis when he was just 10 days old to continue her cancer treatment.
Jenny and her family registered for our Kids Impacted by a Carer’s Cancer (KICC) program and recently went to their first Family Camp together.
“Luka and Matis always have the best time with the Camp Quality volunteers and the chance to be around kids in similar situations and be looked after gives me and my husband Sam relief. We stay in touch with the families we met through Camp Quality, and I can’t say just how positive this is for us.”
Our KICC program was developed in 2019 when we realised there was very little support available to over 16,000 kids a year in Australia whose lives are turned upside down by a parent or carer’s cancer diagnosis.
Big Ride for Little Kids is on again throughout March 2023. Registrations are already open; all you need is a bike and some enthusiasm to help even more kids impacted by cancer.
