“Being part of Camp Quality has truly shaped who I am, from a child finding joy after cancer to a young adult helping others find the same,” says Meg, who returned to Camp Quality almost a decade after graduating as a camper.
Meg was diagnosed with stage four neuroblastoma when she was only two years and eight months old and introduced to Camp Quality shortly after starting treatment at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.
“Not long after my family joined Camp Quality and I attended my very first Junior Camp when I was four; being the beginning of many years of amazing Camp Quality experiences – we got to enjoy Fun Days and Family Camps to Christmas parties and countless Kids’ Camps.

During her time with Camp Quality, Meg climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge, went horse riding and motorbike riding, visited Dreamworld, Movie World, Green Valley Farm, the pet porpoise pool, zoos, and many other attractions.

“I’ve tackled high ropes, countless giant swings and even cooked in a class run by Justine Schofield, as well as meeting Beccy Cole, Rickie Lee and Andrew G, just to name a few.
“Growing up with Camp Quality, I always looked forward to Kids’ Camp each year, returning to reconnect with lifelong friends and that special sense of belonging to a second family made up of fellow campers and companions. I didn’t just go back for the fun, but for the friendships and memories that reminded me that laughter truly is the best medicine. I attended my final Grad Camp at 15, but the friendships and memories I made there have stayed with me ever since.
“Now, at 25, I’m so proud to have come full circle — this time as a volunteer and companion.”
Meg has returned to Camp Quality, and is now volunteering with her camp companion, Bags.

“This year, I’ve been fortunate enough to attend a Family Fun Day, Family Camp, Kids Camp where I was invited to be a companion and my camper and I had the best time in point Woolstencroft meeting new friends and participated in so many awesome activities it was such a special experience, and most recently, experience Camp Quality in a whole new way.

“I had the opportunity to share my Camp Quality journey with the 2025 esCarpade entrants, send them and their cars off, and even join in some line dancing with our Camp Quality families for the 34th seven-day car rally. What an adventure it was! The cars, the costumes, and the incredible community spirit made it truly unforgettable.

“It was an amazing weekend surrounded by so many like-minded, genuine people who gave up their week to raise over $1 million, funds that will make a huge difference to Camp Quality. This support helps create more Family Fun Days, Family Camps, weekends away, and Kids Camps, all bringing laughter, joy, and positivity back into the lives of children and families affected by cancer.
“I’m forever grateful for this community and organisation that turns tough times into brighter days. Camp Quality will always feel like home to me. After all, laughter really is the best medicine.”
