On 13 October 2023 Camp Quality’s wesCarpade will set off, driving from ‘Wheat to Wharf’ starting in rural Newdgate and finishing in Bunbury over eight days to raise money for kids and their families facing a cancer diagnosis.
Now in its thirteenth year, wesCarpade is Western Australia’s favourite motoring adventure. Every year the event draws a dedicated group of car enthusiasts and this year a whopping 26 vehicles will join the experience.
wesCarpade raises funds for kids and their families facing the trauma of a cancer diagnosis. Funds raised will bring positivity, fun and laughter back into the lives of kids impacted by cancer.
Camp Quality mum, Demi knows firsthand how devastating a cancer diagnosis is for families.
Her daughter Riley was diagnosed at eight months old with Retinoblastoma, a cancer that forms in the retinas of the eyes. Within two weeks of diagnosis Riley started chemotherapy and had surgery to remove her right eye.
After an incredibly emotional and turbulent treatment, Camp Quality sent the Riley and her parents to a Family Camp at Swan River.
“It was so much fun. It might’ve been as much fun for as it was for Riley. It was so nice to meet other parents who understood what we were going through, ” says mum, Demi.
Now, hundreds of motor enthusiasts and passionate supporters will join Western Australia’s wackiest and happiest outback motoring event so Camp Quality can support even more kids like Riley.
“Riley has bounced back and thanks to Camp Quality we have been able to keep some happiness through this troubling time,” says Demi.
Camp Quality CEO, Deborah Thomas says: “Events like wesCarpade are not only a wonderful experience for participants but raise vital funds so that more families can access services and programs that will improve their quality of life.”
Camp Quality already supports one in three Australia children facing the trauma of a cancer diagnosis,” says Ms Thomas. “Our goal is to support them all.”
wesCarpade will be stopping in towns along the way so come down to the nearest pit stop to check out all the wacky and creatively themed cars and raise funds for kids and families impacted by cancer.
