AFL superstar and cycling enthusiast Max Gawn has been announced as this year’s Big Ride for Little Kids champion.
Camp Quality’s Big Ride for Little Kids, proudly supported by ALDI Australia, asks everyday Australians to ride 100km, 200km or 300km during March, to fundraise and support kids facing cancer.
This year, Camp Quality is calling for Aussies around the country to jump on their bike, make their RPM count and help to raise $450,000, to send 1,250 kids facing cancer on a Camp Quality camp where they can just be kids again. .
“As a father of two it breaks my heart to think about what kids facing cancer and their families have to endure. I love cycling so am excited to combine my passion with a purpose and help raise funds and awareness so Camp Quality can bring some laughter and joy to kids impacted by cancer,” says Max.
Big Ride for Little helps kids like 12-year-old Josh who was diagnosed with grade three neuroblastoma at just two and half years of age. The diagnosis rocked his entire family. After two years of brutal treatment, Josh finally entered remission. “He’s a fighter,” says mum, Kylie.
But it wasn’t just Josh who missed out on the chance to be a normal kid, his siblings were forced to grow up too fast.
“Our oldest son sort of missed his childhood because we had to rely on him to help look after his little brothers. Back at the beginning, Camp Quality Family Camps were what held our family together, “says Kylie.
Camp Quality gives kids impacted by a cancer diagnosis their childhood back through a range of services and programs that give them and their families the opportunity to create positive memories, together, outside the hospital.
Sandie Hall, Camp Quality General Manager of Revenue says, “Our Big Ride for Little Kids is a fun way to enjoy the great outdoors and get fit, all while doing something that will help change the cancer experience for thousands of children.”
Camp Quality’s premier partner, ALDI Australia is the principal supporter of Big Ride for Little Kids. The partnership is focused on providing Australian children impacted by cancer with the opportunity to attend Camp Quality’s much-loved services and programs.
Camp Quality’s Big Ride for Little Kids, has raised over $1.5 million in three years, enough to send 4,000 kids facing cancer to camp!
