Fundraiser Spotlight: Ryder’s 365 days in the water

Ryder is making a splash for Camp Quality by taking on an extraordinary year-long fundraising challenge.

Every day for 365 days, Ryder is jumping off his family’s jetty into the freezing cold Tasmanian water, often measuring less than 10 degrees, to raise funds for children and families impacted by cancer.

When he began the challenge on 16 June 2026, Ryder set himself an initial fundraising goal of $1,000.

“When I started this, I hoped to raise $500 but set myself the goal of $1k. Only one month in and I’ve raised that. Because there is still a long way to go in the challenge, I’ve decided to increase my fundraising target to $2,000,” says Ryder.

Ryder has been joined by family and friends throughout the challenge, while his dog, Wally, cheers him on everyday from the jetty.

Through freezing winter mornings, summer sunshine and everything in between, Ryder is showing incredible commitment, resilience and courage.

“People ask why I keep doing this. Because kids going through cancer don’t get to skip the hard days either. If jumping into cold water every day can help raise money for Camp Quality, then that’s a pretty easy decision.”

“I’ll keep getting in the water every day, through winter, school, soccer, work and whatever else comes up. Any donation, big or small, helps me get closer to the new goal.”
